If using the Digital 3D plant models here or on Sketchfab makes you feel like a drunk bunny watch this quick introduction where I show you how to move the models around and get a good look at the features you want to see.

See the navigation basics below for quick reference.

NAVIGATION BASICS

Computer

  • Spin the plant around:

    Left click + drag

  • Pick the plant up and move it:

    Right click + drag

  • Zoom in and out:

    Double click on model
    or scroll with mouse wheel

Tablet or phone

  • Spin the plant around:

    One finger drag

  • Pick the plant up and move it:

    Two fingers drag

  • Zoom in and out:

    Pinch in and out

And if the plant disappears, double-click the background and it will re-center.

You can view the plants from all angles and zoom in for a close look at the smaller diagnostic features. You can actually go inside the plant too! When you zoom out you’ll have an overview of the entire subject. This gives you an intuitive sense of scale, which helps you recognise the subject in the field.

The models have one, or more, rulers (10 cm) to help you understand the scale of the plant.

You can see and use all of the available plants on the NSW Department of Primary Industries’ Sketchfab 3D viewer.
